Microcon MCBF
If your reaction to that information is that you’re pretty sure SpringCon and FallCon are not, in fact, new conventions, you’re sort of right. Set in motion by the dreaded Rat King, “The Armageddon Game” saw the Turtles’ absolute worst enemies join forces for a multi-stage campaign of terror that could have easily spelled doom for the entire world. Fortunately, the Turtles had plenty of backup, ranging from their fellow mutants to Dimension X’s greatest freedom fighters to one of the deadliest divine entities the franchise has ever seen.
The team has found that even a small table fee helps ensure all tables have creators at them. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are one of the longest-running multimedia franchises. Although they started as comic book characters, most people know them from the scores of cartoons, movies, video games, and toys the franchise has spawned. The most recent comic series starring the heroes in a half-shell is from IDW Comics, an indie publisher with a ton of credit. This universe is a modernization and combination of tons of Turtle lore, adding elements from across the franchise’s history.
Invasion of the Triceratons, naturally, focuses on the dinosaur-like aliens coming to Earth. While this isn’t their first appearance in the series, it is their first time on Earth. Their unannounced arrival, however, leads to a three-way fight between the Triceratons, the Earth Protection Force, and Splinter’s Foot Clan, forcing the Turtles to choose a side. One of the coolest TMNT villains is General Krang, the Utrom general with his giant superweapon, the Technodrome. While he is certainly one of the sillier aspects of TMNT lore, he is a threatening presence in the IDW comics.
For Comics Creators and Fans, MSP ComiCon Is Unlike Any Other Con
Though things could have ended with a whimper, the storyline instead closed out with one of the most brutal endings of all time, not to mention one that would have long-lasting ramifications for nearly every character involved. The Turtles are backed against the wall, and need to work with Shredder to stop Krang. Obviously, this doesn’t go as planned, and the result is incredibly exciting. This also features Bebop and Rocksteady at their most deadly when they give Donatello a life-threatening beating that changes the course of the series.
Conventions in midwest USA
This all culminated in an ending that not only set the course for the next year of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics, but also helped redefine the world they inhabit entirely. City Fall really explores Leonardo’s relationship with his brothers and the Foot Clan’s status as the Turtles’ main foes. Leonardo is the group’s leader, but Midwest Comic Books Fans that idea is often taken for granted. He doesn’t just bark orders; he keeps his brothers on track and inspires them to keep going. Plus, the Foot is one of the most dangerous threats in the world and can become a dominant threat if left unchecked.
CREATORS
The new MNCBA’s first SpringCon held on April 29th, 2023, at the Bloomington Armory, was a tremendous success. The show featured the return of fan-favorite panels and hourly prize drawings, brought in over 600 attendees, collected 300 pounds of food donated to the ISD191 Food Pantry, and generated a great, collaborative, and positive atmosphere. In March, Marvel Comics’ New Champions will go up against an older incarnation of the team for the right to maintain their iconic moniker.
The Turtles are forced to join their greatest enemy, the Foot Clan, to stop the awesome power of Krang’s ultimate weapon. “…And Out Came the Reptiles” finds Seymour Gutz in worse shape than ever before. After losing his prosthetic body and being moved through increasingly smaller tanks, the sentient pile of bones and tissue was rapidly approaching the end of his life. This drove his best friend Mondo Gecko to embark upon a mission to infiltrate the Earth Protection Force and steal whatever equipment was deemed necessary to keep Seymour alive. Unfortunately, doing so also drove a wedge between the two that nearly broke their friendship, all while highlighting exactly what makes these two overtly absurd characters so relatable as people. A lot of folks have already been asking for it and I’d love to see it as well, but I think we want to be sure to take the time to establish the SilverHawks as their own thing first.
